The return of Piattini

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

With the re-emergence of Downtown Crossing, the exponential growth of Kendall Square and the Wild West expansion of the Seaport, Boston’s food scene continues to get more crowded. Fortunately, an old friend coming back into the picture.

After closing temporarily to deal with a fire, Newbury Street’s famed Piattini restaurant and wine bar has a new look and feel with the same great authentic Italian flavor.

Named for the small plates that made it famous (and that sparked a restaurant revolution), Piattini has also expanded the size of some portions to more traditional entrée offerings. Among the old faves and new seasonally-rotated flavors are spinach gnocchi with house-made pesto, burrata-stuffed ravioli, lemon and basil fettucini with steamed clams, and their mouthwatering homemade meatballs. Speaking of mouth water, the wine program has also been expanded.

So if the hustle and bustle of the Boston food scene gets too much, or if you just want a delicious break from shopping or working, drop in to Piattini at 226 Newbury Street to catch up with old friends and to make some new ones.
