Need to axe where to go in Boston? Cut your way to Carrie Nation!

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on Boston’s 50,000-watt CBS affiliate WBZ AM 1030 weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Though our area is home to some of the best mixologists around, it can still be hard to get a drink in some towns. A lot of this has to do with the efforts of Ms. Carrie Nation, who led the pre-Prohibition temperance movement with her signature hatchet.

While Ms. Nation is gone, her legacy lives on, ironically in one of the best bars and eating establishments in Boston.

Located in the shadow of the State House, Carrie Nation Restaurant and Cocktail Club offers a bright and open dining room and front bar area that is the place to see and be seen on the political scene by day and to feast your eyes on some of Boston’s most eligible bachelors and -ettes by night. Once a connection has been made, you may want to make your way to the speakeasy in back for a romantic interlude or just a game of billiards. Either way, it is sure to be a memorable visit!

Speaking of memorable, the food at Carrie Nation is also impressive and the bars certainly live up to their reverse psychology legacy. So whether you want a tastefully energetic hall for a family or business meeting or a quieter spot for something more intimate, Ms. Nation may not be happy to serve you, but the staff at her eponymous establishment are and the menu is surely a hatchet cut above the rest.
