Count on 75: Tom Kershaw’s latest is (thankfully!) more of the same (Originally posted 4/18)

With the seemingly endless construction and congestion and noise in the Seaport, it can be difficult to remember your own name, let alone find others who make the effort.

Leave it to legendary restaurateur Tom Kershaw to provide not one, but TWO places in the neighborhood where you are always welcome and where you can feel like you belong.

Building upon the success of his 75 on Liberty Wharf, the man behind the real Cheers has recently duplicated the classy but friendly vibe and delicious food of that venue (and his others in Back Bay and Beacon Hill) at 75 on Courthouse Square (http://75oncourthousesquare.com).

Located above and away from the burgeoning bustle below, 75 offers more peaceful views and peace and quiet than in some of its neighboring spots. The floor-to-ceiling windows are set off against nautically-themed accents (some of which apparently come from Kershaw’s private collection) and a beautiful wooden bar that gives the feel of a private library What makes this welcoming venue feel even more exclusive, however, is its inclusion in the 75 Club, a rewards program that links all of the 75s and rewards all members even more! In addition to advanced notice of new menu items and special events (such as wine and liquor pairings), Club members get incited to private events (the only truly exclusionary elements of this inviting establishment and even get a special gift on their birthdays!

If you want to offer family friends, and colleagues a taste of Club life, 75 offers one of the Seaport’s only rentable rooms with its own bar and full AV setup. It is the perfect place to make an impression or celebrate a proposal.

For everyone, however, 75 offers a wide array of food and drink options that include locally-sourced seafood and all the tricks of the trade Kershaw has learned in his decades in the biz.

On the bevy side, 75 fills its signatured glassware with such special treats as the French 75 (mais oui) and Negroni 75, Kershaw Koffee and Courthouse hot chocolate, as well as an entire menu of premium Scotch. There is also an expansive wine list for every taste and occasion- from a business lunch to a family reunion or deal-closing celebration.

As for the food- it is a cause for celebration in itself! The menu includes beautifully-presented plates of 75 crab cakes, an authentic Mediterranean platter, farmed organic salmon filet or filet mignon, and the famed 75 Seaport tower, that can be made up of surf or turf (including their already famous lamb chops). The 75 burger bar ranges from grass-fed beef, turkey, and Colorado lamb patties to a homemade veggie burger that is every but as satisfying. For those who like to get their best meal a bit earlier, 75 serves brunch all week, during which they add such soon-to-be faves as raspberry-stuffed French toast, crab cake eggs Benedict, spicy chicken sausage hash, and Maine lobster omelets to the already bursting menu.

So if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of Boston’s newest construction project or get to a place that is sure to become a favorite and that offers satellites all over town, you need count no higher than 75.

Ready or not- here I come (again)!
