Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
As someone who grew up among the apple farms of the Merrimack Valley, enjoying apple cider has always been a given. As a new dad, it is also a given that I will visit Belkin’s Lookout Farm with my girls to pick apples and to enjoy the hay rides, animals, and other family-friendly attractions.
How psyched was I, then, to find that Belkin’s is now producing its own cider?!
And it’s AMAZING!
While the Farm is open for pick-your-own fun a few months of the year, until recently, there was not much to do there if you are not a farmer the rest of the year. Now, you can go by anytime to enjoy cider that was pressed, aged, and bottled only a few steps away. In fact, you can even get a tour of the press!
In addition to the cider, which is offered in an ever-expanding menu of flavors that include such ingredients as honey and jalapenos (and that will soon add a new summer seasonal with lemongrass and ginger), the cidery also offers charcuterie, Bavarian-style pretzels and live music, all in a refurbished barn that offers a cozy fireplace and a rentable event space. And, as Belkin’s is still a family place that has been serving families for over 350 years, the cidery also offers a non-alcoholic version that is just as delicious and games and activities for younger fans as well.
So whether you need a refreshment after a long day of picking or just want to pick up a four-pack for your next party at home, the Belkin’s Lookout Farm Cidery is a given.
