Shake Shack / Brookview House

You know how we like to promote people who are doing good for the community? Well, when I am not loving on Andy Husbands and all he does in and out of the kitchen, my second biggest restaurateur crush is probably Danny Meyer. I even have an autographed Shake Shack menu!

Speaking of Shake Shack, they recently partnered with Brookview House – an independent, non-profit organization that provides homeless and at-risk women and children with a safe place to live and life training programs as well – and, in addition to hiring staff from Brookview, they will also be donating 15% of all MA Shack sale on Giving Tuesday, which is Tuesday, November 29. The Harvard Square store will also donate 5% from all “Lobstah Shell” concretes through the end of the year.

The timing could not be better, as the holidays are among the hardest times for any family, let alone one that is facing such challenges as homelessness or abuse. Leave it to the magnanimous Meyer to put together such a great program.

So even if the weather is cold or you are busy shopping, take a moment to stop by any of the Shack’s locations – in Chestnut Hill, Dedham, Harvard Square, Back Bay Boston on Newbury Street or by the water in Boston’s Seaport District – and get something cool and sweet to warm someone else’s day and bring sweetness to their lives.
