MEM tea classes

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

A few months ago, we were among the first to talk about the MEM Tea training center and tasting room in Davis Square. As tea continues to be such a popular potion (as evidenced by our spots on Dorset Café, Tea Oasis, and others), I wanted to make sure that Connoisseur’s Corner listeners were fully up to date.

Every Thursday at lunch, MEM offers free tastings that take guests through the history and lore of each type of tea and hopefully encourage them to try new flavors and find new favorites. On certain Thursdays and Saturdays, the Tea Basics class introduces White, Green, Oolong, Black, and Pu-Erh teas and helps tasters distinguish among them. On other Thursdays and Saturdays, a one-hour class in tea brewing is offered that can help even the most bag-beholden drinkers get loose and make the most of tea. On every other Wednesday, tea fans are invit ed to work out their palates and discuss and debate the differences between taste and flavor all while tasting a variety of natural essences that can make tasting tea (or anything else) more enriching. There are even tea story times for families on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 AM.

So whether you long for oolong or do not know a matcha from a matchbox, MEM has you covered in tea.
