Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
New Orleans has always been a world capital when it comes to food. Recently, the Big Easy has also become a place to see how easy it is to create and enjoy sustainable, healthy food that is good for people and for the earth. Leading the charge in this respect is New Orleans-based Food Tank, a food-friendly think tank and activist organization that has quickly spread its resources and know-how worldwide.
On April 1 and 2, Food Tank will bring its annual summit to Tufts University’s School of Nutrition Science and Policy. With a theme of investing in discovery, the event will bring togerther chefs, farmers, distributors, food industry thought leaders, government officials, and people who enjoy producing and eating food and want to do so more effectively and equitably.
Among the scheduled speakers and presenters are administrators and professors from Tufts, as well Branchfood Founder Lauren Abda, Crave CEO Matt Tortora, Freight Farms CEO Brad McNamara, legendary local chef Jody Adams, City Councilor Ayanna Pressley, local food journalists (myself included), and many more. Topics will range from new ways to farm to new ideas about nutrition and food access. The event is open to the public and more information can be found at www.foodtank.com.
