With Covid and social unrest, it can be easy to feel like you are losing your mind these days. That is why I have been searching so earnestly for anything that can help me keep my head on straight and member even help my mental health.
In addition to meditation and exercise (which means more than chasing my daughters around), I have made sure to include at least one cup of tea in my daily schedule, both to hydrate and also to calm and center myself before I go back to the business of life.
One of the teas that I have found to have additional benefits is GABA Gold from the Zi-Chun Tea Company.
GABA is a shortened form of Gamma aminobutyric acid, which is one of the many amino acid-based neurotransmitters in our brains. It has been shown to help decrease activity in the nervous system and so act as a natural calming agent. While our bodies make some, it is never a bad thing to have more calming stuff in our veins, right? Especially if it is delicious! So, as most foods that contain GABA are fermented ones (which can do a job on some people’s stomachs), GABA-infused tea seems to be a winner. It has even been shown to help with hangovers and other excessive events!
Offering a wide range of hand-picked and direct-imported natural and organic teas from their stations throughout Asia, Zi-Chun offers much more than GABA teas, all of which can be purchased (either wholesale or retail) through a website that is also a great place to learn about each tea as well. So while you feed your brain with the chemicals it needs, you can also expand it by educating yourself about other parts of the world and the wonderful gifts they offer.
