As Matt’s Meals fans know, I will travel FAR for a quality doughnut.
My travels recently brought me to MassHole donuts in Somerville, where they not only offer just the best part of the donut but also some of the best and most creative flavors around, including such locally-sourced and locally-inspired faves as the Pecan Hill, Southie Sipper, and the seasonally-savvy Edgartown Eggnog.
No matter which flavors you choose (I usually get at least one of each), you can be sure that the MassHoles have spared no expense on ingredients and that they take the time to make sure that eat bite is a hole-y experience. And if they do not have a locally-themed flavor you want, you can suggest them and maybe even win a t-shirt when they make your idea a reality! I myself am looking forward to the Great Molasses Flood donut hole I suggested a few weeks ago!
In an effort to bring more holes to more masses, mass hole is opening the Mass Hole Donuts Café and Bart at the Great American Beer Hall in Medford, where they will enhance their already impressive donut menu with sandwiches and coffee for the morning Mass Hole mob, their famous Glizzy Borden cheese-wrapped hot dogs, cider slushies, and maybe even alcoholic donuts for after-hours Hole fans.
All of this will be in addition to Chef Nick Dowling’s delicious delights at the Hall (which also features live music, DJ nights, and, hopefully soon, my “Writer’s Block LIVE!” author talk series and game nights).
