While so many of us feel we are running around even while sheltering in place, it is important to take a seat sometimes and be tankful for all we have.
Mealtime can be especially appropriate for this!
That is why I have been enjoying the Seat at the Tableprogram from he YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.
During this open series of courses, Jewish cook book authors and chefs from around the world will discuss their favorite courses and offer recipes, stories, and support like only those in the food space can. Among the participants and presenters are Joan Nathan, Michael Twitty, Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper from Russ & Daughters, Jake Dell from Katz’s Deli, our friends Liz Alpern and Jeffrey Yoskowitz from The Gefilteria and more!
The course also includes never-before-seen archival objects, scholarly lectures, and video demonstrations of favorite recipes, all of which will help explain how Jewish food has endured even as the Jewish people have been threatened.
Whether you cling to your grandmother’s brisket recipe (which you are invited to share, if it will not ruin your family relationships) or don’t know a knadlefrom kreplach, there is a lot of fun and food to be enjoyed and shared.
Just go to https://yivo.org/food and see what all the tasty tumultis about.
