Matt records segments for Jordan Rich’s “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
Fireside Chats @ The Fireplace
I have met a lot of amazing chefs in my 20 years of writing, but few do as much for their guests and their community as Jim Solomon at The Fireplace in Brookline.
In addition to hosting summer barbecues that raise money for the local police and fire departments and live music from bands that are just starting out, Jim recently presented a week-long tribute to his late mentor, Chef Paul Prudhomme, that featured all of the legendary New Orleans chef’s favorite dishes made with the Fireplace’s special style.
As a dedicated history buff, Jim participates in the Middlesex County Fifes & Drum Corps and also offers an award-winnign series of Fireside Chats, which are dinners and drink pairings based on the recipes of our Founding Families.
On February 6, The Fireplace will help warm up the Valentine’s Day season with a special gastronomic tribute to the famously romantic founders John & Abigail Adams. Amidst readings of their actual love letters, guests will be treated to some of the Adams’ favorite foods and spirits. It will be a great night for food lovers, history lovers, and just plain lovers.
