Matt records segments for Jordan Rich’s “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
Ogawa
I am no coffee connoisseur, but lately, I have been enjoying the education I get when I drop by Ogawa near Post Office Square in Boston’s Financial District.
As the first international location of this Japanese institution (Boston was chosen as it is the sister city to Kyoto), Ogawa offers familiar flavors but also delicious diversions as well.
In addition to some of the freshest and most consciously-harvested single-origin coffees in the world, Ogawa also offers Kalita pour-over coffee and Aero-press preparations, as well as tempting teas, cappuccinos, luscious matcha, tea and chia lattes, cocoas, and matcha and fruit smoothies. For those who want to try to replicate the Ogawa experience at home, they also offer a full retinue of drippers, filters, mugs, including hand-painted kiyomizo cups from Kyoto. As all baristas are personally trained by Haruna Murayama, the first female World Latte Art Champion, and as CEO Yoshinori Uda literally wrote “The Handbook of Latte Art,” each cup is as beautiful as it is delicious!
If you just want to sit and sip, Ogawa is a great place. Its clean lines and natural finishes instill calm even in one of Boston’s busiest areas. And it is even open weekends for a shopping trip stop or just another day with what may become your new regular cup. On those days when you need to rush out, their seasonal salads, soups, sandwiches, snacks, and conveniently curated “lunch boxes” are a great way to bring some zen back to your hectic office.
