The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Rail Trail Flatbread Company

I know we have talked about New City Microcreamery in Hudson, where the ice cream is made with the freshest and most creative ingredients using liquid nitrogen to give it a flavor and creaminess that is unmatched in any other so–called “homemade” shops. Well, right across the street is a great place to go for your pre-ice cream treats. It is called Rail Trail Flatbread Co. and, as the name implies, it has killer, handmade sourdough-based flatbreads that also feature the freshest and most creative ingredients and also a showpiece wood-burning stove that is completely curved throughout to guarantee even cooking and absolutely delicious results.

Despite the name, Rail Trail offers much more than just flatbread. From homemade soups and salads to burgers and bahn mi to their famed cheese-stuffed banana peppers, handmade “Hot Tots,” and even an authentic poutine (a Canadian-inspired dish of fried, cheese curd and gravy which is surprisingly and rib-stickingly delicious), Rail Trail has everything a family could want, even if everyone wants something different. From the apps to the sides to the vegan, gluten-free and kids menus, the portions are ample, the prices are not and the flavors are amazing!

On special nights, regional brewers take over the bar’s 20 taps with their entire repertoire, making it easy to enjoy a hard-to-find favorite or to find new ones.

So next time you are in the mood for ice cream, be sure to save room for dinner first!
