My new favorite snack attack

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

I know I’ve mentioned my foodie twins. When not dining on locally-sourced kale or farm-to-table oatmeal, they like to snack (as does their daddy). But as a responsible parent, I do not want to load them up with empty calories.

Fortunately, I recently stumbled upon a delicious snack that is packed with good stuff and nearly empty of bad.

Based on what is apparently an ancient Indian recipe, Biena snacks take chickpeas and bake them into crispy, crunchy, fiber- and protein-packed snacks that are non-GMO, vegetarian-friendly (especially as a protein source), kosher, gluten-free, low-glycemic, and totally satisfying. Compared to your everyday snack options like chips and nuts, Biena snacks boast the “trifecta” of high protein and fiber with significantly less fat in each handy bag. Speaking of bags, I now have to buy at least two a week, as my girls are sure to take care of one the day they get into the house. But that’s because of how healthy, natural, and just plain good they are!

Watch for Biena at the Whole Foods tent at the Boston AIDS walk on June 5 and Whole Foods, Target, Stop & Shop, Roche Brothers, Hannafords, and other favorite stories all over.
