Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
As listeners to our talks know well. Jordan, there are few people in this business or on this earth that I have more respect or good feeling towards than you and Andy Husbands, chef/owner of Tremont 647 and now The Smoke Shop BBQ.
I know I have gushed about Smoke Shop, but in order to fully appreciate what Andy has done, it bears mentioning that his original spot- Tremont 647 (which I still maintain is one of the best eateries in Boston) is celebrating 20 years in existence. This is almost unheard of for a singular shop and is a credit to Andy and a testament to his quality and passion.
In addition to serving some of the best and most creative food around (including his legendary Taco Tuesday offerings, the laid back deliciousness of Pajama Brunch on Sundays, and such special events as Boston’s Tate of the Nation fundraiser, Dine Out Boston and his own annual Summer Grilling Social and Southern Style Christmas Eve), the Hell’s Kitchen star has been a tireless supporter of his community and of all people through his work with Share Our Strength, the Rodman Ride for Kids, and many other community-minded organizations.
With all he has to do running multiple restaurants and winning awards and accolades for his cooking, cueing and writing (his cookbooks are amazing!), Andy still finds the time to drop by every table, shake a hand, humbly take a compliment and make sure everyone feels like family.
Here’s to another 20 years, Andy!
