Astra Luna leading local craft spirit surge

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Astra Luna

As Boston was one of the pioneering places for the craft brew boom, it is now taking its place at the front of the craft spirits movement. One of the most locally-relevant creators in the space is Astra Luna in Medfield.

After launching with an Irish-themed  “O’Brien’s Viodka” that was intended to please the locals from Limerick, AstraLuna expanded into other regionally-relevant products. Among their most popular are some Cape Cod-inspired spirits that include an award-winning White Rum and a Gin made with Cape cranberries and florals and other local bounty. Astra Luna’s small batch Liberty Tree Boston Rum is made with an historically-accurate Colonial recipe and all of their vodkas are distilled in an authentic copper pot that makes them smooth and mellow without taking away any flavor. With a dark rum and tequila coming down the hand-filled bottle line soon, AstraLuna mixes well with others and is well set to keep leading the local liquor lore for some time to come.
