There are always new things starting up in Kendall Square. What was once more true of the biotech field is now also true of the food scene. As more and more major players like Akamai and Google pack into the “Third Square” neighborhood, more and more places are popping up to please them.
One of the newest places to start is Catalyst Café (www.catalystcafecambridge.com). As its name implies, the Cafe intended to help people get things started in the morning or to replenish their creative stores at lunch. The name also reveals that it is related to Catalyst, the popular nearby home of brilliant chef William Kovel.
While a leisurely lunch at Catalyst is a treat worthy for the C-suite, not all creative have the time to luxuriate in Chef Kovel’s masterful menus. Fortunately, the Café offers many of the same tastes and all of the same quality and freshness in a more manageable size. With a menu that features energizing smoothies, freshly-made breakfast sandwiches, and amazing baked goods, as well as Illy coffee and Harney & Sons teas, it is a great place to grab and go before heading into the office. However, with its warm woods and varied (but all comfy) seating areas, it is also a prime place to eat and even meet before or during a busy day. The lunch menu offers a wide range of sandwiches, salads and bowls that all pack lots of local flavor into convenient containers. And if you need to stay at your desk or bench for the day, the Café caters so you never have to miss out on Chef Kovel’s latest ideas again!
