Maple Madness in VT

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

It’s (apparently) springtime in New England. And while that means marathons for many, there is a devoted group for whom running sap is more important than running shoes.

Throughout April, our friends in VT will be happily obliging as they celebrate one of their most famous exports- syrup!

There will be no fooling when the season al celebration officially opens on April 1 with the Made in VT Marketplace in Essex Junction, at which Green Mountain State sellers will show off their wares. April 4 is the world-famous free cone day at Ben & Jerry’s In Burlington, where maple walnut will surely be on the menu! The pine-y party culminates the weekend of April 28-30 with the annual VT Maple Festival in St. Albans and the St. Johnsbury World Maple Festival April 29, during which visitors can get up close and personal with the people and trees that make their favorite topping tops and enjoy pancakes and then run a 5K to take off the resulting calories.

There are other delicious art and craft events throughout the month and information can be found at www.Vermont.gov
