Blondie celebrates National Honeybee Day

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ AM 1030 (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

As I talk so much about my friends at Follow the Honey, Boston Honey Company, and the many meaderies I love so much, it should be obvious that I care about bees.

Apparently, I am not the only one.

To go along with their amazing new album, “Pollinator,” legendary rock band Blondie has launched a campaign called “BEE Connected” that is intended to bring awareness to the importance of the little yellow buzzers.

Kicked off during National Pollinator Week (which was June 19-25, in case you missed it), the campaign involves a partnership with organizations such as Pollinator Partnership, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace, all of whom know – as Blondie and I do – that without bees, there is no food and without food, there is no Matt’s Meals!

Fans of Blondie and/or bees can go on the BEE connected site at www.blondie.net/beeconnected and get special limited edition shirts that remind other fans to be good to bees and to the earth in general and also to get information and materials to help educate themselves and their communities about the how to help the hives.

At www.blondie.net/beesocial, there is also a social media filter people can use to spread the word electronically as well, all in preapration for National Honey Bee Day on August 19.

So as the tide continues to get higher, let us all remember that, if we are to move on, we need to help the bees.

Thanks, Blondie!
