With the rise of the Battle of the Burger, the Cue and other regional restaurant rallies, it was only natural that a pizza-sific gathering would come to be in Boston.

On July 8 and 9 from 12 noon to 10 PM, the first-ever Boston Pizza Festival will be held at City Hall Plaza. In addition to to tasting the best pies around from 30 different handcrafted Italian ovens, guests will enjoy live music, beer, wine and giveaways. VIP tickets are available and kids under 5 are FREE

Many of the chefs will also demonstrate how they create their pies and there will be an appearance by The Jersey Pizza Boys.

Boston Pizza Tours will also be on hand to help guests find their way to more great slices of Boston.

So whether you like it red or white, thick or thin, come by the Pizza Festival to see how your favorite meals are made and to find a new favorite or two.
