While I remain a fan of The Bagel Place in Newton, once I get on the Mass Pike, there are not as many good bagel options until I reach my friends at Finagle a Bagel in Boston.
Or at least such was the case until recently, when the headquarters of Finagle (which can be seen alongside the Pike at 77 Rowe Street in Newton) opened their Bakery, Cafe + Test Kitchen. Finagle has been hand-making artisan bagels with all-natural ingredients for over twenty years here in Boston. Everything you see on the menu from unique bagel flavors to breakfast sandwiches is created from scratch in their test kitchen in Newton. With the opening of their new Bakery, Cafe + Test Kitchen, people have a chance to see first hand how Finagle hand boils and bakes their artisan bagels through the glass garage doors that look into their facility. Visitors can get their favorite soups, sandwiches, salads, and pastries and even try out new menu items before they hit the downtown Boston shops.
The (w)hole place is great and well worth the dough (and the drive).
