Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ AM 1030 (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
As a former denizen of the South End, I have been blessed with an abundance of amazing eateries. From ice cream at Picco the night I got engaged to many nights at Tremont 647, I have been able to enjoy some of the best of Boston all in one neighborhood.
Now that I live a bit further afield, it takes more motivation to deal with the traffic and parking. However, I recently found a new place that makes the excursion end easily.
Located just across from the Calderwood Pavilion in the South End, Frenchie is run by Sandrine Rossi and Loic Le Garrec (the folks behind Petit Robert Bistro (another neighborhood fave) and brings all of their authentic French flair to a new openly underground venue.
Despite its subterranean address, the space is bright and open, thanks in great part to its white-on-white interior décor, a small front patio and a larger greenhouse out back that is overhung with ivy curtains. The food is similarly beautiful and attractive and the menu can open up even the most experienced eater to new flavors and ideas.
What may bring the most folks to the highly-cruiseable wood and granite wine bar, however, are the signature Frozes which combine French rose wine with fresh seasonal fruits. When you add these to the extensively-curated wine bar menu (that includes Loic’s family wines and cheeses) and other drinkable delights, Frenchie also becomes a great placer to drop by after work or before or after a show even if you do not have time to enjoy a full meal.
So even if you are not a Pink Lady, Frenchie is a great place to drop in!
