Kosher Wine

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ AM 1030 (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

Last time I checked, Jordan, the most recent Jewish holiday was Shavuot, during which we celebrated receiving the 10 Commandments, but in none of them does it say to drink kosher wine.
And yet here I am, enjoying bottle after bottle and not saving it for anything in particular except the next time I want a great glass of wine!

I too grew up on giant bottles of syrupy stuff, but the scene has changed. Israeli and other kosher wines are now winning international competitions that include non-kosher wines as well. The field has exploded so fast that many retailers are having difficulty finding enough shelf space for the many new varietals and varieties that continue to pour in from the Jewish homeland and vineyards around the world. While Bartenura Moscato is the #1 imported/Italian Moscato in the US, there are so many other great ones that I am wary to mention others as I know I will leave more out than I include. So I will just take a tip from an old marketing campaign and say look for the kosher label and be sure to ask for it wherever you buy great wine!
