Shed’s BBQ

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ AM 1030 (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:

While I have been known to drive to Memphis for authentic BBQ. It is harder to make the trip with twins at home.

Fortunately, in addition to my local staple The Smoke Shop in Kendall Square, I now have a new option right downtown.

Shed’s Smoked BBQ is the brainchild of the dynamic due behind the popular lunch and catering spot Viga. And while they too offer catering, Shed’s has a downhome vibe that makes it a great place to set a spell and enjoy the southern hospitality and flavor.

In addition to traditional items like long-smoked brisket, pork, and chicken, Shed’s also caters to the more health-conscious with grain and greens based bowls that can be topped with the aforementioned meats for a flavorful meal that also has nutrients and perhaps a bit less guilt. The toppings include cornbread croutons, picked jalapenos, and a fistful of cheeses, and each plate comes with cornbread and homemade pickles. To further customize your meal, Shed’s offers nearly a dozen authentic regional sauces, including vinegar- mustard-, and even espresso-based slathers that mix and match melodiously. And to wash it all down- homemade iced or sweet tea or a DIY Arnie Palmer, which is perfect break from any day at the office.

So the next time you crave Beale Street but can only get to Bromfield Street, drop by Shed’s.
