Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (https://wbznewsradio.iheart.com/) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
One of my new year’s resolutions has been to get more comfortable in the kitchen. I love cooking with my wife and my twins, but I never feel quite sure I know what I’m doing. While this makes for a lot of fun misadventures, I wanted a little help, so I looked to fellow blogger and self-taught cook Deb Perelman and her new cookbook, Smitten Kitchen Every Day.
The book is a collection of what Perelman calls “triumphant and unfussy new favorites” that includes everything from deli Rye English muffins, magical two-ingredient oat brittle, and what Deb claims (apparently rightfully so!) to be “perfect” blueberry muffins to kale-dusted popcorn, dal soup, grilled yogurt flatbread, Siberian Plemeni, and a garden gin and tonic (which all chefs eventually need!). Among the sources cited in the book are everyone from Milk Street’s Christopher Kimball to award-winning actress (and Gwyneth Paltrow mom) Blythe Danner. In addition to the great and fun-to-play-with recipes, the book also contains a guide to measurements and suggestions for how to satisfy special diets, such as vegan and gluten-free.
So make it your mission to get more into cooking in 2018 and to leave the fear and drudgery that is often related to it behind. With help from Deb Perelman, you too can be smitten with your kitchen as well!
