The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

How many times have you driven down the Pike under the Crown Plaza in Newton and thought” I wonder who stays there?”

Well, even if you do not have a convention in Watertown, there is still a great reason to brave Exit 17 and pull in. That reason is the newly-revamped restaurant known simply and appropriately as Social.

Helmed by Culinary Fight Club finalist Justin Rexroad, Social has plenty of room for parties and corporate events but is also cozy enough (and has a menu diverse and delicious enough) for family or romantic meals, including their live music weekend brunches.

The menu ranges from mascarpone fritters, shaved kale salad, and fried oyster po’boys sliders to pomegranate lamb meatballs, purple potato gnocchi, and pork belly tacos that take the so-over bacon madness in a better direction. The burger board includes duck and fried brie burgers and the Social fries are worth a trip, as is the bourbon sticky toffee pudding and Nawlins-worthy Bananas Foster pudding.

So next time you are headed into town for dinner, stop along the way and get a better meal and value in a place that is far more fun and, well, social!
