Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (https://wbznewsradio.iheart.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
While the Boston Cream Pie may be the official cake of Boston, how many times do you wake up in the morning craving something sweet and head over to the Omni Parker House for the original recipe?
It may very well be, in fact, that, despite its lack of governmental blessing, another famous local creation has overtaken the BCP as the area’s favorite cake.
For over 25 years My Grandma’s Coffee Cake has been waking people up and ending their meals with some of the best homemade goodness this side of your real grandma’s kitchen. In addition to their signature original, My Grandma’s has developed an array of freezable, sharable cakes that range from a patriotic red white and blueberry to a Ted Williams-inspired cake that is always a homerun! And for those of us who might feel a bit guilt about putting don an entire 10” cake, Grandma has recently released boxes of single-serving sweets that are just right for a private celebration or just a scrumptious snack.
So while the Boston cream pie may be a must eat for tourists, locals and connoisseurs know which cake takes the cake. It’s Grandma’s of course!
