Take a tasty trip to Moldova

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (https://wbznewsradio.iheart.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

It’s great to see the other food folks falling all over each other when some so-called celebrity chef opens a new place, but Connoisseur’s Corner listeners want and deserve more.

That is why I am so happy to find a gem like Moldova in Newton!

When I first heard of it, I had no idea what Moldovan food was (or frankly where either the restaurant or its namesake nation were). But boy am I glad I found them!

Combining the best of Mediterranean, Russian, and an impressive list of other surrounding flavors, Moldova (on 334 Watertown Street ion Newton) is both a delicious place to eat and also a wonderful opportunity to engage and learn about a people, a culture, and an ethnicity. In addition to stuffed grape leaves, creamy bean dips, and crepe-like sweet and savory pies (including the cherry, which is not to be missed), Moldova offers Moldovan wine and a lot of local charm. The staff is mostly native and are as happy and proud to tell you about their historic homeland as they are to recommend favorite dishes. It is a vacation nearby that is well worth the trip!
