Volturno worth the trip

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (https://wbznewsradio.iheart.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

While most people in Boston look north when they seek amazing authentic pizza and pasta, there is now reason to look in a new direction.

Just off Route 9 in Framingham (and also further west in Worcester) is Volturno.

As one of the few pizzerias approved by the Associazione Verace PIzza Napoletana (APN), Volturno has a reputation to uphold that goes far beyond Metro West.

As they fire their pies in no more than 90 seconds, Volturno is great for a quick bite or a family meal. From their spectacular San Marzano tomato sauce to such other tasty toppings as pistachio pesto, cured Meyer lemon, local honey, spicy Capocolla, or oh-so-sweet Nutella, the pizza menu offers options that are unavailable elsewhere. And Volturno even offers to serve your pie uncut or even folded, just like in Napoli!

If pasta is more your thing, you can actually watch your hand-made pasta be hand-made and can even take a class to learn how to do it yourself!

So while the North End of Boston may offer more pizza and pasta per square foot than most blocks of Italy, it is just as easy (and perhaps easier) to drive west and park at Volturno.

Buon appetito!
