The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
Who knew that Quincy would emerge as a dining destination? But between the recent opening of Idle Hour that we featured last round and popular purveyors like Victory Point, Fuji, Townsend and Yasso Yogurt, the City of Presidents is appearing to lead the race for best place to eat.
Among the long-running favorites in town is The Fat Cat, which has been a casual dining landmark since 2009. Perhaps best known for a recent showcase on the Food Network for its carbo-bomb mac & cheese, the Fat Cat is moving to a bigger lair down the block in order to make room for their giant portions and growing fan base (and for the development of a luxury residential building, which also seems to be on the menu all over Quincy).
In addition to a new space, the Cat is welcoming a new face in the form of Chef Bobby Sisson, who brings his own fans from stints at Island Creek Oyster Bar and The Townshend.
Though the Cat once enjoyed a reputation for being one of the hardest places to land a table (thanks to its devoted fans), the owners look forward to opening up the reservation list to more people and welcoming the thousands of new residents who continue to flock to the historic city and introducing them to their famous plates (such as the BBQ pork nachos and aforementioned mac & cheese) and signature “XXX” hot sauce, as well a growing bar menu.
So whether you are new to Quincy or just curious, The Fat Cat will surely satisfy!
