The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

While I am happy to say that our little Newton Village gem Moldova is set to expand, I am also happy to say that the wonderful Moldovan wines they offer are available outside of the restaurant as well.

With a collection of over 1.5 million bottles, the so-called “Golden Collection” wine cellar in Moldova is in the Guinness Book of World Records. So surely they will not mind if you buy a bottle or two.

While I have enjoyed many varietals while visiting the restaurant, I have taken home a few bottles of the MIMI Rosu de Bulboaca, a Merlot/Cabernet/Malbec blend that consists entirely of hand-harvested grapes that are aged in French oak barrels, revealing a dry red that is delicious with traditional stuffed cabbage rolls or with my favorite- the sour cherry crepes, as they bring out the cherry and chocolate notes in the wine.
So even if you cannot get to Newton (let alone Moldova), you can now enjoy at least the drinks that go so well with their traditional foods and so many of your other favorites as well.
