Southern Proper brings the South to New England

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

With its flea market chic décor and animal heads and autographed pics of The Red-Headed Stranger on the walls, Southern Proper does have a good deal of that southern charm. And under the capable (and almost ever-present) eye of North Carolina native Chef/Owner Jason Cheek (late of Little Donkey and Toro), the food is pretty authentic too! So much so, in fact, that it might be a good way to bring some Southern hospitality to that most New England of holidays- Thanksgiving.

In preparation for this, Chef Cheek is putting own the chicken fryer and picking up a slew of farm-fresh turkeys that he will serve as pre-ordered, pick-up meals in enough combinations as to make even your most cantankerous relatives truly thankful. From a whole turkey with five large sides to a dinner of legs with three, there is a meal set for any holiday table and plenty of recyclable napkins to go around.

For those who love his chicken (and there are many!), Chef is also offering unlimited sides on Mondays and Tuesdays for those who belly up to the creatively-cocktailed hammered-tin bar, stand at the three-tiered tables, or plop down in the super-comfy seats and order his award-winning bird dinners for two or four.

So the next time you are in the South End and want to get a bit more South, there is one proper place to go- Southern Proper.
