The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
While the community of Sharon ha long been a happy place, the level of joy is about to go up with the opening of Avi Shemtov’s new Sephardic-inspired restaurant Simcha.
Putting his own native twist on the popular Israeli food scene, Shemtov (who is best known for his creative Chubby Chickpea food truck and revolutionary Tapped beer trucks) is taking inspiration from his Israeli and family restaurant heritage to bring a new kind of dining experience to the area. More than just falafel and corned beef, Simcha offers tastes from the Sephardic tradition, which includes Turkish, Arab, Iberian and other Mediterranean influences (including those Avi learned from his Turkish father).
From the wood-fired pita to the locally-raised meat and produce to the graffitid Jerusalem stone walls, Simcha offers the best of Old World traditions and contemporary desires to create a funky venue in which European-styled fine dining meets modern Israeli soul food.
The menu ranges from venison and lamb prepared by butcher Joe Henry to herbs and produce (including an amazing smoked pumpkin!) from Sharon’s Ward’s Berry Farm, as well as a world-class beer list curated from Shemtov’s trucks.
Having proven the concept in a series of successful pop-up versions that ranged from Allston to Austin, Shemtov is looking forward to opening the restaurant of his delicious dreams and to inviting everyone to share in his joy.
