From Brooklyn with Fish- The Gefilteria drops by the weekend of March 28-30

Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ Saturdays and Sundays at 9:25 AM and 3:25 PM.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

Though they have set up base camp in The Old Country (aka, Brooklyn) the taam twosome behind the Gefilteria have strong ties to our area and often find their way back here to share their latest recipes and insights into the wonders of traditional and contemporary Jewish cooking.

On the weekend of March 28-30, Jeffrey Yoskowitz and Liz Alpern will swing through the Bay State with stories and recipes (and, of course, tastings) that will satisfy your head, heart, and kishkes.

On the 29th, they will celebrate Shabbat with the Riverway Project and OneTable Boston at Temple Israel of Boston. The next night, Ashkenazi cocktails and Mamaleh’s deli will be on the menu as Yoskowitz and Alpern demonstrate pickling at Shir Tikva in Wayland. A Sunday bagel brunch will be held in their honor at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, and Sunday afternoon, Yoskowitz and Alpern will offer a Passover-minded cooking class at Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Studios.

As they combine traditional inspirations with contemporary inclinations, a visit with the Gefilteria team (or a perusal of their great cookbook – The Gefilte Manifesto) is always a treat!

So even if you think gefilte fish comes in a jar (ugh!), why not drop by one of these many locations and see what is really cookin’ in the Jewish kitchen?
