We speak often of all the amazing eateries in Downtown Boston, and especially of those in the South End.

Even as this neighborhood continues to rise in cache, however, there are many for whom it is not feasible to dine in any of the fine establishments and also many for whom any next meal is often in doubt.

Fortunately, among the many supportive neighbors in the South End is Haley House, which for over 50 years has been providing its neighbors with sustenance and support through community engagement and employment support.

On June 1, Haley House will host its annual block party from 4-7 PM outside of their famed soup kitchen at the corner of Dartmouth and Montgomery Streets in the South End.

In addition to family-friendly activities and live music, there will be a silent auction that will feature gift certificates for sporting events, services, restaurants, and more (bids for which can be made at www.haleyhouse.org/blockparty).

Among the providers of food and drink at the party will be Union Park Pizza, MEM Tea, JP Licks, FoMU, Kava, Siegel Eggs, and Iggy’s Bread.

In addition to supporting Haley House’s vital program sin the South End, proceeds will also help Haley House reopen and update their popular bakery and social enterprise incubator in Roxbury
