The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
Lots of big cities are known for that “name” chef who has won a TV cooking contest, but few of them make it out to the suburbs.
Chef Mike’s in Needham is an exception- but WHAT an exception!
Run by Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen Champ Mike Fucci (who has been cooking since he was 13!), Chef Mike’s offers fresh-that-day food that is inspired by Mike’s home—cooked Italian heritage.
From hand-rolled meatballs to entire platters of lasagna that can feed a family or a corporate team, Mike has everything you need for a quick bite or a catered affair. At lunch, drop by for Denny Crane (which Mike has generously named after my distant cousin Bill Shatner), Mike’s famed chorizo meatloaf with Sriracha, or the best Italian beef sandwich this side of Wacker Drive. Mike’s also serves fresh salads and weekly specials that include chicken Piccata, arancini, and fried goat cheese.
Whenever you drop by, you are sure to see fresh bread, an aromatic steam table and a cold cut case (behind which the colorful Chef often stands), but there is no freezer anywhere. All Mike does is fresh and that is what makes his new place so fresh.
So come see what a big name chef can do to improve the menu of a small town and tell ‘em Shatner’s cousin sent ya!
