The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

Last year at this time, I was gorging on sticks-full of fried food at the MN State Fair.

From butter to Twinkies, if it can be fried, they know how to do it!

I must say it was one of the happiest days of life!

Sadly, this summer is bereft of all such joy as even the Big E and Topsfield are down for the Covid count,

Building on the popularity (and calorie count) of his popular Cheesecake Bible, award-winning chef and food educator George Geary has recently released Fair Foods: The most popular and offbeat recipes from America’s state and county fairs. In it, he offers authentic recipes for fare faves like caramel kettle corn and BBQ turkey legs as well as more outlandish offerings like PB&J cheeseburgers. In addition to a bevy of bacon bits that ranges from bacon-wrapped potatoes with buttermilk dill sauce and maple bacon donuts to chocolate-encased bacon, Geary also offers an entire section on deep-fried foods that includes such drippy delights as candy bars and even fried cola!

For dessert (Yes- I said “dessert”!), Geary again runs the gamut from All-American apple pie and funnel cakes to make-at-home snow cones and what he claims are the world’s gooiest cinnamon rolls,

So if you want the county or state fair experience without the heat, lines, expenses and- wait a minute- this sounds pretty good, see what the man who literally wrote the bible on cheesecake can do for your summer diet!
