The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

As the limits on travel persist, I have been trying to find ways to get away without going too far. Fortunately, I have found a way to help my wife relive her time in Peru and to enjoy some of the best food around even when at home!

I have long been a fan of Chef Jose Duarte, who may be best known for Taranta in the North End, So when I heard that he and partner Brian Corcoran were opening a place that would take tasty tips from his native Peru, I wanted to jump on the first plane. I only had to go as far as the airport’s general area, however, as Tambo22 is near the nexus of routes 16 and 1 in Chelsea, far from the covid crisis and far above anything else in the area!

Named for the traditional Incan supply and lodging facility, Tambo22 has plenty of satisfying (and most often locally-sourced) staples like their well-named better than Buffalo wings, creatively-concocted ceviches, tongue-grabbing grilled beef skewers, fresh fried yucca, and plenty of Andean lupini beans, many of which come with Duarte’s homemade rocotohot sauce.

Speaking of home and hot sauces, I have also found a way to enjoy the tastes of Peru at home, thanks to Pacha hot sauces. In addition to the traditional (and fiery) rocoto, Pacha also offers a milder but no less satisfying yellow sauce that is nearly as good an introduction to Peruvian cuisine as a visit to Tambo.

So if you crave the tastes of Peru or just a way to get away without going far away, Tambo22 and Pacha sauces can open up entire new worlds..
