Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
Fans of our segments or of Matts-Meals.com know that I am not such a fan of chains. For example, when it comes to pizza, I swear by Hearth in Needham Center. The way that Ivan and his great staff make and serve the fresh, creative food and all they do for the community are truly inspiring.
However, there is a new player in town that has piqued my interest. It is the Florida-based restaurant group called Anthony’s Coal-Fired Pizza. And even though they have ties to the Miami Dolphins, I sometimes find myself craving their crispy blackened pies and so am happy that they are opening in Newton.
They have already made a splash in Westwood, Reading, Northborough and Littleton and people come from miles around to grab a pie and beer. In addition to pizzas, they also have coal-fired wings, an authentic Italian salad, and meatballs that require a flatbed (if not a flatbread) to bring home.
Anthonys was recently named ”Best Pizza Chain in America” by USA Today, so even a dedicated mom and pop fan can find something to like.
So while I still love to hang around the Hearth, now I got a new place to get my coal on!
