Matt regularly appears with Jordan Rich on “Connoisseur’s Corner” which airs on WBZ (http://boston.cbslocal.com) weekdays at 11:55 AM.
The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s forthcoming segments:
With Passover approaching, many are scrambling for new recipes and new stories to share around the Seder table. And while there are plenty of books and websites to consult, there is a newish Jewish cookbook called Jewish Fairy Tale Feasts that may be more approachable and attractive than most as it has been composed by award-winning children’s book author Jane Yolen and her kitchen-savvy daughter Heidi Stemple.
Dipping deep into their collection of family anecdotes and recipes, Yolen and Stemple offer an array of stories and traditions, including portions of the Torah and Midrash and foods for holidays and every day. From blintzes and shakshuka to matzo lasagna and hamentaschen, the book presents the stories with sufficient explanation for even the non-observant to enioy and the recipes with plenty of room for a pinch of this and a smidgen of that.
As neither Yolen nor Stemple are professional chefs, they do not seem to expect such expertise of their readers. All they want is that you should eat well and maybe learn a good lesson or two.
