The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
Thankfully for all of us who want to eat healthy and support our hard-working neighbors, the farm to table movement continues to grow in MA.But what could be better than farm to- hand?
On September 16, food and farm-lovers from all over will converge on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston for the latest installment of the Boston Local Food Festival.
At this year’s event, representatives from such local legends as Bart’s ice cream, Butterworks Farm, Cabot Cheese, FreshBox Farms, Fungi Ally, GG’s pretzels, Goodnow Farms chocolate, Makomas, Real Pickles and Sugar Bob’s Smoked Maple Syrup (many of which we have already raved about) will be on hand to not only share their wares but to share stories of how they came to be. In this way, guests will not only fill their stomachs with fresh and delicious food but also fill their heads with greater understanding and appreciation of from whence it comes.
In addition to samples and sales galore, there will also be chef demos and competitions, food trucks, and food-related organizations, including many that promote healthy diet and getting involved in food production. Live music and a family fun zone will ensure that there is something for everyone and, chances are, everyone will walk away contentedly full and having discovered at least a few new favorite foods. And with the help of Boston Solar, the DCR and Save That Stuff, there will be plenty of energy and no waste!
