The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
I was recently at the new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle steak house in Back Bay when the waiter made a point to suggest I finish the marvelous meal with a cup of coffee. When I asked him what they offered, he said that he usually does not suggest an after-dinner drink (though they had an amazing selection thereof), but this coffee was special. In addition to being delicious and energizing, the coffee supports not only those who drink it but also those who make it.
Veteran Roasters is a company out of Chicago that employs homeless and chronically-unemployed veterans. Every bag of beans of their famed Cup O’ Joe sold provides a veteran with skills training and the dignity of a job in the growing coffee industry. With over 300,000 homeless veterans in America, it is our duty to do all we can. And as we all drink coffee (and LOTS of it), such a sacrifice is a drop in the mug, especially when we consider what these brave men and women have sacrificed and what they must face every day.
So whether you are indulging at a fine restaurant or just getting the troops together at home, try a Cup O’ Joe from Veteran Roasters.
As the slogan says, “They were on the ground for us, buy some grounds for them.”
