The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
From liberty and independence to ether to the new ArtMatr system that helps people use technology to make authentic art, the Boston area has been a bastion for creativity since its founding. For the past few years, the Hub has been promoting this creative steam with Art Week, a statewide celebration of the many ways in which people can and do create and explore creativity in the area.
Since 2015, ArtWeek (which will be presented this year by the Boch Center from April 26-May 5) has shone a special light on the culinary creators among us with their Art of Food sessions. So while I usually talk aboutchefs and restaurants in this space, I wanted to use this opportunity to talk tothem and to encourage them to participate in this annual event.
Taking inspiration from favorite artists in other media, Art of Food participants will pair their plates with pieces from the many other creative types who will be involve din the week-long celebration. Past participants have included everyone from ArtBar and ArtBev to Hilliard’s candies and Michael’s Deli, but anyone and everyone is invited to register and also to help support their fellow artists through material donations and funding.
In addition to the edible pairings, ArtWeek will host special food-related events, so art appreciators of all appetites will have ample opportunity to see how deliciously visual and oral arts can go together.
Especially in these times of financial uncertainty, we need to do all we can to support not only our food communities but our artistic ones as well.
Art Week gives us all not only opportunity but reason, so be sure to register by March 20 and to come enjoy at the end of April.
