The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

While it may be a bit early to prepare for Passover (especially as it is “late” this year), it is never a bad time for a really good wine. And so, though we may still be working like slaves waiting for that next family get-together, I recommend being ready with a bottle from the catalog of Covenant Wines, the only winery that makes wine in both California and Israel.

As I am already in a redemptive mood and as it is so darn delicious, I am especially in the mood for their Red C (that’s C as in “Covenant,” but you get the joke!) wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from California’s Sonoma County. It is a full-bodied red with soft tannins and yummy hints of berries with an oaky finish that goes well with everything from kugelto tsimmesand anything lese you may eat at Passover or any time of year!

As Covenant is helmed by the only winemaker who was a critic for Wine Spectator magazine, you know it has a great pedigree and high scores. In fact, Covenant regularly receives the highest scores among the ever-more delicious group of Kosher wines! Kosher wines have become so popular, in fact, that they are being served at French Laundry and Michael Mina’s restaurants. So it may be more effective to think of the Kosher shelf (and Covenant in partcular) as great wines that just happen to be Kosher, instead of the other way around. No matter how you think about it, the key, however, is that you enjoy it!
