The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
While we love to talk about farm-to-table and other productive food programs, we would be remiss if we did not keep a careful eye on the planet that gives us all of the bounty.
On June 8, award-winning musician and environmental advocate Warren Senders will host the 19th annual Playing for the Planet concert at 7 PM at the Community Church of Boston at 565 Boylston Street. This year’s event will feature virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Lloyd Thayer, Swedish/Celtic music from Sunniva Brynnel and Yaniv Yacoby, and brilliant Hindustani vocalist Samarth Nagarkar. Proceeds will benefit 350MA.org, which focuses on developing and promoting ways to build global consensus on reducing CO2 levels to 350 parts per billion.
While many people talk about doing something to combat global warming (and a frightening few continue to stay silent or even deny it), Senders and his musical friends have dedicated their art and their lives to spreading the word before it really is too late. In addition to sharing musical values, the talented international artists at this annual event also share a keen consideration of their fellow creatures and a deep desire to protect and support all of them.
If you share these passions (or if you just want to enjoy an amazing evening of international music and culture), check out Playing for the Planet.
Not only will your favorite chefs thank you; future generations of foodies will as well!
