The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:
I am a condiment NUT who often sees food as a delivery system. As a result I can be pretty picky about my sauces. That is why I was so excited to find True Made Foods- a line of sauces that are low in sugar and made with vegetables.
Created by Veteran entrepreneur and father of four Abe Kamarck, True Food began by taking one of the most popular condiments – ketchup – and taking out what was the least healthy part – the often overwhelming amounts of sugar. Instead, Kamarck uses other vegetables to sweeten his tomato-based topping. In addition to being just as tasty as many other brands of ketchup, True Foods’ bottles (which are available in stores all over) also deliver added nutrition. What is better, they use many of the oddly-shaped but just as good vegetables that are often needlessly tossed out, thereby saving food and supporting farmers as well.
Since the success of his ketchup, Kamarck has expanded the line to include a deliciously spicy Veracha (vegetable-based Siracha) and a BBQ sauce that was co-recipied with fellow Veteran (and ‘cue expert) Ed Mitchell. They are all great, but if you need inspiration, True Made’s website even has recipes to get you going on a healthier condiment connection.
So check out True Made Foods and taste what you won’t be missing!
