The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

As the first known recipe for beer was discovered in Sumeria, it may be no surprise that the Middle East has a long and proud brewing heritage.

On November 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 at Hopsters in the Seaport, Israel360 will bring some of the Jewish State’s greatest contemporary brewers to Boston to discuss their history and the recent renaissance in Israeli brewing and, of course, to share their wares.

After a decade of brewing in their Jerusalem basement, brothers Itzik and Dani Shapiro came above ground and created The Shapiro Brewery. Today, this family-run brewery  produces a wide range of beers, including their original pale ale, a sweet oatmeal stout, a Helles-style lager, and even a doubly-fermented sour and bourbon barrel-aged chocolate porter. Though they are available throughout Israel, this will be one of the brothers’ first trips to the US and should be a great night of education and enjoyment. At the end of the night, the brothers will even guide guests in their ownestered explorations and perhaps encourage a new page in hop history.

So whether you like to support Israeli entrepreneurs or just enjoy great beer in a creative environment, an evening with the Shapiro brothers will surely lift your spirits!
