The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

Look into almost any home pantry, and you will surely hear the names of at least one that was created by Rob Ehrlich. Especially as some people get ready to return to a school schedule (if not to actual school), Pirate’s Booty and the like are sure to be in supply in most homes.

Having already dominated the crowded snack aisle, Ehrlich has taken his creative culinary skill in a new direction. The result is Vegan Rob’s a large line of plant-based snacks that are as focused on compassion as they are on taste and nutrition.

In addition to offering a slew of sweet and savory snacks that ranges from fiery dragon crisps and puffs and demerara sugar-topped popcorn to dairy-free cheese puffs made from super-sustainable sorghum, Vegan Rob’s also offers a good part of its proceeds and its employees’ time and effort to local and national charities (including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, and perhaps most naturally, Feed the Children) and encourages their growing legions of fans to do the same.

So if you are tired of shaking your booty or just want something with great flavor that helps great causes, check in with your tasty friend Rob and see what he has going on now.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

As Matt’s Meals fans know, I am a BIG fan of chocolate. Especially if it has natural ingredients or embedded superfoods and other elements that make a given bar stand out. Especially as I get so many types to try and talk about, the ones that make the cut reallyneed to be different!

Even so, when I heard of a milk chocolate that was vegan, I was skeptical.

When I heard the name – Schmilk chocolate – I was tickled. When I tasted it, I was hooked!

As hard as it may be to believe, the folks at Schmilk have found a way to use cashew nuts to create a truly creamy chocolate without any cream. Even if you are not vegan, this stuff is delicious and can be enjoyed in more ways than many other so-called “real” chocolates!

Handcrafted in VT, Schmilk chocolates come in a wide range of flavors that range from crunchy bars and indulgent peanut butter bliss bites to hazelnut truffles and fight-worthy roasted marshmallow hugs. No matter which you try, you are sure to get a kick out of the name and a mouthful of wonder from whichever bit of Schmilk you choose.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

As Matt’s Meals fans know, I am always looking for delicious ways to get more nutrients into my body and those of my family and friends.

Recently, I have gotten on the beet train and try to put the energy- and immunity-boosting purple powerhouse in as many things as I can.

Sometimes, however, a blender is not available and stain stick is not handy.

That is why I am loving Beetology. To be precise, that is ONE of the reasons I love it. Another is the TASTE!

As it is comes from Beetology’s own organic beets, the purity and nutrition are not to be doubted. And if the power of beets alone were not enough, Beetology comes in a bevy of bodacious blends that includes such other superfoods as cherries, ginger, and a daily supplies-worth of other veggies- all of which are delicious son their own and actually make for fun and refreshing mixers that can make your next party even more healthy and fun with such suggested starters as the Beet-y Mary, Beetarita, and Bourbon Beet-it!

So if you are looking for a yummy way to improve your health and maybe even your mixology game, Beetology can’t be- you know!

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

In recent years, organic wines have become a big deal and many wineries are cleaning up their acts in order to qualify to be part of the movement.

Badger Mountain Vineyard has been leading the way for 30 years and continues to deliver delicious wines from the volcanic soils of Washington State (where it was the first vineyard to be certified organic). Using a fan instead of pesticides to literally blow pests away, using rye plantings and their own natural compost between the vines to increase nutrients in the soil, and running their operation on biofuel that is locally-sourced from area restaurants, Badger Mountain is clean and pure from start to finish and so are their wines!

From a Riesling and Chardonnay to a Cab, Pinot, and Merlot, to their boxed Pure White and Red, Badger Mountain has something for every taste and even offers gift sets and a wine club that has its own special Syrah. If you happen to be in the area, you are welcome to drop by for a tour or a wine slushee. Even if all you can do is order by mail, however, you are sure to get fresh wine that has been leading the pack naturally for three decades.

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

With a lot of time alone and more than the usual amount of stress, I have been finding myself with a lot of gum in my mouth. As I still am averse to chemicals and other things that will just make me feel worse, I have become a big fan of Rhode Island’s own Glee Gum.

Naturally flavored and colored, Glee offers a wide range of fun chewable treats, including their gums, pops, and tarts. They even have make-your-own kits that are great for kids and families to do together and combine STEAM-based learning with tasty fun!

An award-winning, woman-run company that employs people with diverse backgrounds and abilities, Glee is not only one of the only gums in North America to be made with natural chiclefrom trees, but they have also partnered with Trees for the Future to plant trees in the rainforests from which they source their sap. Furthermore, almost all of their packaging is recycled. Not only do they help forests grow, they also help expand the minds of students in nearby villages through donations to local schools.

So the next time you want something to chew on other than your pencil or a fatty snack, put some glee into your mouth and your life with Glee gum!

Get away to Peru without going too far

The following is a “script” for one of Matt’s segments:

As the limits on travel persist, I have been trying to find ways to get away without going too far. Fortunately, I have found a way to help my wife relive her time in Peru and to enjoy some of the best food around even when at home!

I have long been a fan of Chef Jose Duarte, who may be best known for Taranta in the North End, So when I heard that he and partner Brian Corcoran were opening a place that would take tasty tips from his native Peru, I wanted to jump on the first plane. I only had to go as far as the airport’s general area, however, as Tambo22 is near the nexus of routes 16 and 1 in Chelsea, far from the covid crisis and far above anything else in the area!

Named for the traditional Incan supply and lodging facility, Tambo22 has plenty of satisfying (and most often locally-sourced) staples like their well-named better than Buffalo wings, creatively-concocted ceviches, tongue-grabbing grilled beef skewers, fresh fried yucca, and plenty of Andean lupini beans, many of which come with Duarte’s homemade rocotohot sauce.

Speaking of home and hot sauces, I have also found a way to enjoy the tastes of Peru at home, thanks to Pacha hot sauces. In addition to the traditional (and fiery) rocoto, Pacha also offers a milder but no less satisfying yellow sauce that is nearly as good an introduction to Peruvian cuisine as a visit to Tambo.

So if you crave the tastes of Peru or just a way to get away without going far away, Tambo22 and Pacha sauces can open up entire new worlds..
