While many of the stores and eateries on Newbury Street in Boston’s tony Back Bay have sadly shuttered, one old friend has been offering consistent taste and quality for 20 years.

In celebration of two decades of great food and service, Piattini is offering a special birthday cocktail through May 9 so that guests can toast their success while brightening their own days as well (and boy do we ALL need that!).

Created by Owner Jo Olivieri Megwa, the Birthday Martini combines Tito’s Vodka, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Amaretto, and Funfetti Sprinkles and is a great complement to any of their popular lunch and dinner dishes, most of which recall the authentic Italian traditions of Jo’s grandmother while incorporating contemporary flavors as well.

Among the long-time favorites are the titular piattinis (small dishes) and popular panini sandwiches that are all made with imported cheeses and fresh vegetables, the satisfying beef, chicken, and seafood dishes, and artisan pizzas and pastas that are also available in gluten-free varieties. No matter what you order, be sure to save room for the homemade mousse, exclusive gelato, tiramisu and other sweet treats (all of which go well with the new martini, of course!).

Just in time to celebrate the woman who brought you into the world, some of our favorite Boston-area eateries are remerging into the world with special offerings!

On Sunday, May 9, Rare Steakhouse at the Encore Boston Harbor is hosting Mother’s Day brunch from noon until 8 PM, so you do not have to gamble with reservation times (although they are recommended!).In addition to specialty brunch cocktails, Chef John Ross is preparing locally-sourced seafood spectaculars, as well as exclusive Kobe cuts and prime beef from Snake River Farms and La Frieda Meats. 

In Cambridge, Chef Will Gleason will kick off the return of his popular brunch serviced to Puritan & Co. with a specialprix fixe menu from noon to 7 PM, after which regular brunch service will return on the 16th.

If you want to catch a glimpse of yours truly, try Rochambeau in Back Bay, where charitable chef Nick Calias will bring French fare and his famed flair to the family day with a set of special Mother’s Day options that will be in addition to his already popular Sunday set.

Across Boylston Street, Back Bay Social Club will present a fun bunch of foods, including a chicken and waffle sandwich, Huevos Rancheros with ranchra sauce, and a Greek yogurt and fruit parfait with granola.

One street over, the Newbury staple Sonsie will offer to-go options for those who may want to visit Mom on her special day.

No matter where you go, you are sure to eat well and make Mom feel glad she raised you so well!
