In the Old Country, your Bubbe and Zayde made shoes with leather.
In America (and elsewhere), we eat it!
Kayco (www.kayco.com) – the nation’s leading provider of Kosher foods – recently introduced a new dairy-free dark chocolate “leather.”

You can combine it with a croissant. You can dunk it in coffee. But a real donut stands on its own!
Kane’s Donuts (www.kanesdonuts.com) are REAL donuts!
While he continues to bask in the gastronomical glow of the Dudley Café (www.dudleycafe.com) and to celebrate the long-awaited addition of authentic Indian cuisine to the teched-out food court that is Kendall Square (www.shantiboston.com), restaurateur Solmon Chowdhury is far from resting on his building bouquet of laurels. In fact, while his NAGA nightclub is one of the hottest spots in Central Square (and FAR beyond), bringing international music and culture to the college-friendly community, Chowdhury is bringing it all back (adopted) home with his latest concoction- the upscale American eatery known simply as Monroe (www.monroecambridge.com).
It’s hot!
It’s sticky!
It’s summer in the city (or the suburbs)!
What do we all scream for? Ice cream!
And now, thanks to the community-minded husband and wife team of Wendy and Alan Issokson, there is a great new place to get it.
As the tech and bio tech industries continue to bring the world to Kendall Square, even more eateries have popped up to satisfy their every desire. From EVOO’s Italian to Mamaleh’s Jewish-style deli to Andy Husband’s saliva-inducing BBQ, Cambridge’s “Third Square” has been diversifying by the day.

As members of Norumbega Lodge 3-506 can tell you, Boston has many strong ties to Norway. From a focus on education and culture to a love of the sea, Boston and Norway do have a good deal in common. So perhaps it is no surprise, then, that one of Boston’s best seafood restaurants – Atlantic Fish Co. (www.atlanticfishco.com) – recently strengthened this relationship by bringing in a native son of Oslo to helm its already excellent kitchen.
On a cold, bleak, Boston day, there is nothing better than a warm splash of color and some comforting, satisfying eats.
Fortunately, after years of making waves across the river (and over the NH border), The Friendly Toast has finally come to Downtown to bring all its delicious fun to Boston.
With its kitschy collectibles, vintage vinyl seating surfaces, and art and ads from bygone eras, the Toast is a throwback in many ways and on many levels. Most notably, however, is the tradition of serving honest, homemade, and most of all good food with warm and friendly service.
Though it is named after a relatively homogenous summer escape site, Orleans Restaurant in Somerville’s famed Davis Square (http://orleansrestaurant.com) brings all of the neighborhood’s eclecticism to one place and does it all rather well!
From its seasonal menus to reliable specials like $10 lunches, 30-cent wings (Thursdays 4:30-close) and dollar oysters (Mondays 3-close; Tuesdays-Fridays 3-6), not to mention its 14 HD screens and 20 rotating taps, Orleans has all the numbers (and flavors) to make any day more fun and satisfying.
